A composition for prevention and treatment of dementia, and learning and memory impairment comprising mefenamic acid as an effective component is provided, which mefenamic acid inhibits apoptosis of cerebral cells and memory impairment caused by toxicity of amyloid beta protein or C-terminal protein. The composition for prevention and treatment of dementia, and learning and memory impairment comprises mefenamic acid as an effective component, wherein the dementia is Alzheimer type dementia; the composition has a formulation of tablet, pill, powder, granule, capsule, solution, water-insoluble solution, suspension, oil, freeze-drying agent and suppository; and the dosage of the composition is 1 to 7 mg/kg, preferably 4 to 5 mg/kg per day.
