[Also in Division H2] The width of the mouth of a winding slot in the rotor or stator core of a dynamo-electric machine is reduced by a method which includes inserting into the slot in the portion between its mouth and the winding 16 a magnetic slot-closing member 14 of arcuate cross-section such as to make good magnetic contact with the core at said portion, and removing the crown of the member to form a mouth of the required width. As shown applied to a non- salient pole rotor laminated core 11, a rigid insulating strip 17 is added to prevent the member rotating, and the removal is by grinding to the line 18. The method is also applicable to winding slots in salient-pole machines, and it is envisaged that only the crown and none of the core may be removed |
