A mobile communication terminal, an information providing system, and a computer readable recording medium storing a program are provided to prevent unavailable information from being supplied to a user, and to give an alarm to the user if an error is generated while an application attempted by responding to a received SMS message is driven, thereby cutting off an unnecessary consumption of resources while supplying an effective information providing service. When a stock price information server(1) obtains updated stock price information from a security network(2), a predetermined application is directed to be driven while a message attached with a validity period is transmitted to a user terminal(7) through a paging channel via an SMS server(6). If the user terminal(7) receives the message, the terminal(7) decides whether the message is within the validity period. If so, the terminal(7) drives the indicated application among stored plural applications. The stock price information server(1) transmits stock price information requested by the driven application to the user terminal(7).
