A method for inputting the Korean alphabet and a terminal therefor are provided to assign vowels and consonants to keys of a keypad one by one in a Korean alphabet input mode, and to comprise the first/second vowel keys and a character expansion key on the keypad, so that a user can easily input the Korean alphabet. In a Korean alphabet input mode, a controller decides whether a key is inputted from a user(201). If so, the controller displays one vowel assigned to the corresponding key(205). The controller decides whether a key is inputted within a predetermined time(207). If so, the controller decides whether the inputted key is a character expansion key(209). If so, the controller expands the displayed vowel to display the expanded vowel(211). The controller decides whether a vowel key is inputted(213). If so, the controller combines a vowel in accordance with the inputted vowel key with the displayed vowel, and displays the combined vowels(217). The controller decides whether the Korean alphabet input mode is terminated(219). If so, the controller completes the procedure.
