The hydraulic system includes a fluid pressure accumulator (32), a hydraulic cylinder (10) with a pressure charged chamber (12), and a control unit (40). A normally open valve (36) operated by the control unit and a pressure transmitter, especially a pressure switch or transducer, are installed in the connecting line (34) between the accumulator and pressure chamber of the hydraulic cylinder. The pressure dependent signal transmitter is especially a flow volume sensor. An independent claim is included for a method for the operating of the hydraulic system.
