Preparation of iodinated organic substance (S1) having molecular mass less than 2000 using at least one free radical-generating substance (s1), organic substance (s2) and molecular iodine (s3) involves introducing at least fractions of (s1) - (s3) into a reactor and then reacting the contents in the reactor while introducing remainder of (s1) - (s3) to form a mixture comprising (S1). Preparation (P1) of iodinated organic substance (S1) having molecular mass less than 2000 (preferably less than 1000, especially less than 500) using at least one free radical-generating substance (s1), organic substance (s2) and molecular iodine (s3) involves introducing at least fractions of (s1) - (s3) into a reactor, and then reacting the contents in the reactor while introducing remainder of (s1) - (s3) to form a mixture comprising (S1). (s1) is peroxide, diazo compound, dialkyldiphenylalkane, substance derived from tetraphenylethane, borane, or iniferter substance comprising at least one thiuram disulfide group. (s2) is ethylene double bond, capable of adding a free radical to its ethylene double bond. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) mixture comprising iodinated organic substances (S2) having molecular mass less than 2000 (preferably less than 500) of formula R-G x-(CX 2-CXY) n-I (I) and R-G x-(CX 2-CXY) n+1-I (II) where R, G, x, CX 2-CXY and n are identical for two substances; (2) iodinated organic substance (S3) having molecular mass less than 2000 (preferably less than 1000) of formula R-G-(CX 2-CXY) q-I, R-O-C(=O)-O-(CX 2-CXY)-I or R-O-S(=O) p-O-(CX 2-CXY)-I; and (3) preparation of a polymer by free-radical polymerization of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer (a1) using (a1), (s1), styrene, styrene substance, ultraviolet radiation, (S1) - (S3), and optionally at least one complex of a metal chosen from transition metal, lanthanide, actinide, group IIIa metal and its ligand. R : H, an atom of alkali metal, linear or branched 1-20C alkyl (optionally substituted by phenyl, carboxyl, hydroxyl, nitrile, amine or amidine), 3-8C cycloalkyl (optionally substituted by 1-8C alkyl or nitrile) or phenyl (optionally substituted by 1-8C alkyl or halo other than iodine); x : 0 or 1; G : -O-, -O-C(=O)-O-, -C(=O)-O- or -O-S(=O) p-O-; p : 1 or 2; n : 1 - 8; q : 1 - 10; X : H, halo other than iodine or linear or branched 1-10C alkyl; Y : halo other than iodine, phenyl (optionally substituted halo other than iodine or 1-8C alkyl), -O-C(=O)-Z, nitrile, -C(=O)-O-Z or -C(=O)-NZ 2; Z : H, or saturated or ethylenically unsaturated or aromatic 1-20C hydrocarbon. Provided that when G is -C(=O)-O-, then its fragment C(=O) is linked to R and its fragment O linked to CX 2.
|
