An electro-plating barrel is constructed from a plurality of identical panels 12 of perforated polypropylene each having hinge lugs 17,18 on two opposite sides. The lugs have bores 19, 20 therethrough and adjacent panels are joined by interfitting their lugs and passing a rod 32 through the bores 19, 20. The rods may be of polypropylene or of steel covered with a sleeve of polypropylene. Each panel edge 15, 16 has a strengthening rib 22, 24 and also projections 26 and recesses 28 whereby edges 15 and 16 of panels can be interfitted. Three or more panels are hinged together to form a polygonal barrel Fig. 5 (not shown) and end plates 34, Fig. 7, are provided at the barrel ends. As shown, the end plate 34 has teeth 39 for engagement with a drive pinion. Current is supplied to an electrode 45 from a connection 43. Fig. 6 (not shown) . ' illustrates part of a barrel where one of the panels (12a) serves as a hinged door. Parts of the lugs (18a) have been removed and titanium spring securing means (50) have been provided.</p> |
