Diazotype copies are produced by imagewise exposing a diazotype material and developing with a solution containing as coupler 2, 3-dihydroxynaphthalene or a 2-hydroxy-3-napthamide; the diazonium compound being those disclosed in the material of co-pending Specification 1,189, 537 and of formula wherein R 1 is hydrogen and R 2 is acyl, sulphonyl, carboxyethyl or carbamyl or of formula where R 6 is a residue completing a 6-membered heterocyclic ring or R 1 and R 2 together form R 7 - C=O in which R 7 completes a 5-membered heterocyclic ring with the nitrogen and carbon atom, R 3 is alkyl, R 4 is alkyl or aralkyl or R 3 and R 4 together complete a 6-membered heterocyclic ring, R 5 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl or alkyl- or arylmercapto and X is an anion. The diazotype material may be sensitized on both sides using a support containing an ultraviolet light absorber so that two images may be obtained on development.</p> |
