Bonding plastics extrudate to surface, uses formable preferably warm extrudate and aqueous polyurethane dispersion, solventless hot melt or heat-activated adhesive. In bonding plastics extrudate to a material surface, preferably immediately after manufacture whilst still formable, especially warm, by applying adhesive to the area to be coated and pressing the extrudate onto the surface with a forming tool, especially roller(s), with simultaneous forming, the adhesive is an aqueous polyurethane dispersion (I), optionally ionically stabilized, or solventless thermoplastic hot melt adhesive (II) based on polyurethane and/or polyamide. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) Bonding extruded plastics edge strips to the narrow side(s) or edge(s) of a material with (I) or (II) by process described in WO 00/53387 A1 or WO 00/53399 A1 ; (B) Bonding plastics extrudate to a material surface, especially narrow side or edge, with simultaneous forming, using heat-activated plastics (III), preferably based on thermoplastic polyurethane, optionally mixed with other polymers and/or additives; (C) Materials with surfaces partly bonded to a formed thermoplastic extrudate with (I), (II) or (III); (D) Production of 3-dimensional (3D) profiles on a material surface by applying thermoplastic extrudate, preferably whilst still formable, especially warm, and forming, preferably with roller(s), using as extrudate a homogeneous mixture (IV) of heat-activated thermoplastic composition; (E) Production of 3D profile from (IV) by process described in WO 00/53399 A1; (F) 3D extruded and formed profile of (IV), especially on material surface; (G) Strengthening narrow sides or edges of boards, especially of wood, e.g. chipboard, pressboard, MDF (medium density fiberboard) etc. with (IV); (H) Boards with uniformly thick layer of (IV) on narrow side(s) or edge(s). |
