A method for displaying sunrise and sunset by an icon on a mobile phone is provided to enable an icon using the shape of the sun to move along a virtual horizontal line when the sun is rising or set. Time information transmitted from a base station is received through a transmitting/receiving unit. A controller searches data which has been set for displaying sunrise/sunset, and when a select signal for searching sunrise/sunset has been set, the controller matches an icon for the sunrise/sunset according to a current time and position and then displays the matched result on a display window of a mobile terminal(S10). In case that a select signal for displaying an icon for moonrise/moonset in a shape of a changing moon has been set, the controller matches an icon for the moonrise/moonset according to a current time and position and displays the matched result on the display window(S20).
