The protector (1) for a seal (19) inside a clutch housing guide tube (7) that receives a gearbox shaft is designed so that it extends to the end (7a) of the guide tube into which the shaft is introduced. It occupies two positions - a first position in which it extends from one end (7b) of the guide tube to the other (7a), and a second in which is is pushed out of the guide tube by the inserted shaft.
