<p>Distributor type injection pump having a pump working chamber (10) which is bounded by a pump piston (1) driven by cam drive provided with at least one cam (5) and which is used to supply at least one fuel injection valve (13) with fuel injection quantities brought up to injection pressure and also having an electrically controlled valve (24), via which the pump working chamber (10) of the fuel injection pump is connected to a relief chamber (17) or closed in order to control the injection quantity and injection time and with interruption to the injection between a pilot and a main injection per injection operation. The cam (5) is designed in such a way that on its cam flank that moves the pump piston (1) for its delivery stroke, it has a subregion (P) in which the piston (1), after a first delivery stroke for the pilot injection, remains at least in its position reached there or retracts the stroke in order to interrupt its high pressure delivery stroke for the main injection, is moved onwards. The electrically controlled valve (24) being driven in such a way that at the beginning of the delivery stroke for the pilot injection it is closed and is only opened again in order to complete the main injection.</p> |
