PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine importance of data through a simple process, relating to a device, a program and a method for determining the importance of data managed by a file system. SOLUTION: A management information fetching part 5a fetches from an actual data storage part 4 the date of creation and the date of update included in management information 4b created by a file system 2 for the purpose of data management. A creation date calculating part 5b calculates the time of data creation on the basis of the date of creation and the date of update and an importance determining part 5c determines the importance based on the time of data creation, whereby the importance is determined based on the date of creation and the date of update.
