PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance filling efficiency; and to prevent blow-by of fuel, by efficiently scavenging the inside of a cylinder by fresh air. SOLUTION: The injection direction of a fuel injection valve 19 is pointed to a first intake port 3a. and the valve opening timing of a second intake valve 26b for opening and closing a second intake port 3b, is advanced by an angleθ1 relative to the valve opening timing of a first intake valve 26a for opening and closing the first intake port 3a. In a valve overlap period for opening both an exhaust valve and the intake valve by advancing the valve opening timing of the second intake valve 26a, the second intake port 3b opens in the first place, and the inside of the cylinder is scavenged only by fresh air without being accompanied with fuel, and then, the first intake valve 26a opens, and an air-fuel mixture of the fresh air and the atomized fuel is supplied in the cylinder.
