The invention relates to powdery coating substances comprising, (A) laminar particles whereby the a ratio of the laminar diameter D to the layer thickness d is 100: 1 to 10: 1, containing at least one laminar effect pigment which is directed in a completely or approximately completely parallel manner in relation to the surface of the laminar particle, and, (B) transparent, dimensionally stable, devoid of effect pigment laminar particles or non laminar particles whereby the ratio of the laminar diameter D to the layer thickness d is 10: 1. The invention also relates to a method for the production and use thereof.
