The mobile telephone (H1) has an associated voice input unit (S) for entering text by voice as individual successive letters that is connected to a microphone of the mobile telephone or to another microphone (M). Received letters are individually digitized and compared for agreement with stored memory content to identify the individual letters. An independent claim is also included for a voice input unit.
