New cosmetic and/or dermatological preparations (A) contain an active agent combination or one or more alpha - and/or beta -hydroxyacids (I) and one or more alkane-1,2-diols (II), optionally together with other active agents, auxiliaries and additives. ACTIVITY : Dermatological; Antiseborrheic; Antibacterial. In suspension tests for action against Propionibacterium acnesat pH 4.5, a combination of 1% lactic acid (Ia) and 0.2% decane-1,2-diol (IIa) reduced the bacterial count (CFU per ml) from ca. 2 x 10 5>to ca. 2 x 10 2>(compared with ca. 10 4>for 1% (Ia) alone and 10 5>for 0.2% (IIa) alone) in 15 minutes.
