Wastewater purification by wet oxidation comprises using a catalyst comprising active components incorporated into a porous inorganic solid with a partially hydrophilized surface. An independent claim is also included for producing a catalyst for carrying out the above process by impregnating the porous solid with organic compounds and heat treating the product at 200-900[deg]C under anoxic conditions.
