When supplying only a single consumer, the variable delivery pump (14) is controlled to supply a volumetric flow satisfying the demand from the consumer. When supplying more consumers (10, 12), the distributor valve (26, 28) to the consumer with the greatest load is fully-opened. The distributor valve of further consumers is controlled to set up flow resistance, in accordance with the volumetric flow demanded. The desired value used to control the variable delivery pump is formed from the demand for flow, from the consumer. An independent claim is included for the corresponding hydraulic supply system.
