The method involves a text input for an indicator for the announcement of an indication having an input key at the side of the indicator. During pressing of the input key indications are assigned and releasing of the first input key a further indication is made. By releasing both pressed input keys the input of the appropriate character takes place in a first indicator level. An independent claim is included for communications equipment with an indicator.
