Method for producing a dental prosthesis or restoration element in which the mouth cavity is scanned and a scan result generated for use in the dental restoration work. The imaging of the mouth cavity or part thereof is in the form of a negative template. To create the prosthesis or restoration element the negative template (22) is used directly without a need for creation of a positive model.
