EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL DEVICE OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine provided with a NOx-storage reduction catalyst for attaining a further appropriate reduction of sulfur oxide stored in the catalyst.

SOLUTION: In an exhaust emission filter 38, NOx-storage reduction catalyst is applied on a filter for trapping particulate matters contained in exhaust emission. As recovery control of S-poisoning of the filter 38, fuel is intermittently added from an addition valve 68. In this case, after a 1st fuel-addition, degree of temperature-rise consequent upon the fuel-addition is checked, and resumption of fuel addition to be conducted beyond the 2nd time is determined on the basis of the check result.
