PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark ignition type engine and its manufacturing method capable of reducing height of a cylinder block and utilizing the cylinder block used for a diesel engine as the cylinder block of the spark ignition type engine. SOLUTION: In the spark ignition type engine having a cavity 1 used as a combustion chamber on the top of a piston 2, a top dead point side is considered as an upper side, and a bottom dead point side as a lower side. Out of a center bottom wall part 3 of the cavity 1 and a peripheral bottom wall part 4 in the periphery thereof, when an upper face 4a of the peripheral bottom wall part 4 is formed at a lower part of the upper face 3a of the center bottom wall part 3, a lower face 4b of the peripheral bottom wall part 4 is positioned at the lower part of an upper end 5a of a connecting rod small end 5. In this case, it is preferable that the upper face 4a of the peripheral bottom wall part 4 of the cavity 1 is formed into a flat face along a plane orthogonal to a cylinder center axis 6.
