PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance assembling workability of a damping device, and to easily perform installation work for the damping device. SOLUTION: In this damping device 10, an upper transfer member 20 and a lower transfer member 22 are provided in a wall surface space 19, and a buffer 24 is provided between the transfer members 20 and 22. The transfer member 20 is attached in a position to be offset in the surface direction (Y-direction) of the space 19 with respect to an upper frame 12. The transfer members 20 and 22 are displaced by predetermined dimensions to a front-surface or rear-surface side with respect to the surface-direction center of the upper and lower frames 12 and 14; the side, to which the transfer members 20 and 22 are displaced, serves as a narrow space; and the other side serves as a wide section. Four dampers 26a-26d, and fastening fittings 36 and 38 are provided on the wide-section side of the transfer members 20 and 22. Since the fastening fittings 36 and 38 are attached to the wide-section side of the transfer members 20 and 22, they can be fixed by means of a long thick lag-screw bolt 46.
