PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the finish of drying where entanglement of cloth and wrinkles are reduced while preventing deterioration of washing power and extension of a drying time in a washing and drying machine provided with a pulsator. SOLUTION: The machine comprises: a washing and spin-drying tub 2; the pulsator 4 provided at the bottom of the washing and spin-drying tub 2; and a drive 6 for driving the pulsator 4. The pulsator 4 has a tilted surface 4b for lifting laundry articles 38 upward while sliding them. When rotating the pulsator 4, the laundry articles are moved in a vertical direction and rotate inside the tub 2 in the same direction as the rotating direction of the pulsator 4.
