PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electric water heater for providing hot water in desired temperature in a short time. SOLUTION: The electric water heater includes: a heating vessel 3 which is internally divided into a heating area 5 and a heat insulation area 6, where liquid of each area is movable between the divided areas; a supply means 19 for supplying the liquid to the heating area 5 of the heating vessel 3; a heating means 9 for heating the liquid; an initial boiling control means 33A for supplying the liquid to the heating vessel 3 by a first prescribed amount, heating the liquid, and keeping warmth by the first prescribed temperature after heating is terminated; and an additional boiling control means 33B for replenishing a prescribed amount of liquid being not more than a storable amount to the heating area 5, heating the liquid, and keeping warmth in the heating vessel 3 by the first prescribed temperature after heating is terminated. When a power source is supplied, the initial boiling control means 33A is driven. When the operation of the means 33A is terminated, the additional boiling control means 33B is repeatedly operated, so as to obtain a second prescribed amount. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
