PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a hair cosmetic hardly causing dry feeling when used, imparting excellent gloss and smoothness to the hair, and having excellent protecting effects on the hair against heat of a drier, or the like. SOLUTION: This hair cosmetic contains (A) a silicone powder of a material selected from a methylsiloxane network polymer and/or a crosslinked methylpolysiloxane, (B) a silicone oil, (C) a polyhydric alcohol, (D) a xanthan gum and/or a carrageenan and (E) water.
