The passenger cell (1)has a reinforcement rod (4) arranged in the centre of the cell across the longitudinal axis (1.1) of the vehicle and connected each side to a body element designed as a B-pillar (2,3) whereby the reinforced rod connects the left B-pillar to the right B-pillar. The reinforcement element is preferably designed as a cross rod with two ends screwed either side to the left and right pillars through flanges.
