An operation microscope has an infrared (7), visible, ultraviolet, or Rahman spectrometer system (13) using illumination light (12) coupled from a source (7) to the main beam by lens (9) and adjustable mirror (10) and scattered (14) from the operation area (5). Independent claims are included for procedures using the operation microscope.
