[Also in Division C6] An animal feed supplement comprises a lactic acid producing bacteria, such as Bacillus bulgaricus or Streptococcus thermophilus, in the form of a dry powder containing viable bacteria. The supplement may also contain metabolic products formed during the cultivation of the bacteria, and is preferably mixed with the animal feed in amount of 0.1-5% wt. The supplement may be obtained from cultures of the bacteria on skim milk, whey, whole milk, or bouillon, such as meat bouillon. In the Example a culture in skim milk is spray dried at 60-65‹C. |
