[Also in Division H2] The components of a dynamo-electric machine are connected together by a magnetic pulse-forming step, the components being so assembled before connection that they can have relatively coarse tolerances and yet produce an acceptably accurate machine when connected. Within the coils 48 and field concentrator 49 of a magnetic-forming machine are loosely located an outer casing 46, a stator 42, a rotor 41, and end plates 45 for supporting the ends of the rotor. Needles 47 are positioned between the rotor and stator to accurately determine the air gap. The casing is magnetically formed around the end plates 52 and stator 53, Fig. 3, and the needles 47 finally removed. |
