<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a lithium manganese compound oxide capable of maintaining a high capacity for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: A lithium manganese compound oxide is compounded by calcining a material mixing manganese dioxide and lithium carbonate at 900°C for 7 hours in the air. The lithium manganese compound oxide obtained is heat-treated at 300-400°C for 5-20 hours and the heat-treated lithium manganese compound oxide is obtained. The heat-treated lithium manganese compound oxide is used for a positive electrode active material and a lithium secondary battery is fabricated.
