<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method for setting the motion vector of the digital moving image, by which a precise motion vector can be set, using the motion vectors having a high correlation when a compressed digital moving image is converted into a low resolution image. <P>SOLUTION: A method for reducing the resolution of the digital moving image that is compressed and stored, includes a step of calculating a final motion vector allocated to a resolution-reduced macroblock using two motion vectors, having a high correlation among the motion vectors of four adjacent macroblocks.
