PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL display device composed by securing its display definition even under strong external light. SOLUTION: This organic EL display device is so structured that a luminescent part is formed in a pixel region of one surface of a substrate capable of transmitting light; light from the luminescent part is emitted to the other surface side through the substrate; and a photochromic material layer is disposed in at least a part of a passage of the light from the luminescent part on the other surface side of the substrate.
