PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair having a simple structure and excellent fitting performance to a sitting person. SOLUTION: In the chair, an inner back plate 20 composing a backrest 13 is formed into an upper rigid body portion 20a and a lower deformable portion 20b, and the rigid body portion 20a has a back frame 14 fixed thereon. The lower end of an easy deformation portion 20b is locked to the back frame 14 through a hook 38. The easy deformation portion 20b is supported from behind by a supporting means such as a lumber support 15. Thus, the easy deformation portion 20b is allowed to deform in all directions and the lower end of the easy deformation portion 20b has a free end state for accurately following even if twisting motion of the sitting person's body to improve fitting feeling, and a back cover is eliminated to have a simple structure.
