PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for fixing a mounting eye to a hydraulic shock absorber capable of attaching the whole end part of a plate member closely and easily and improving welding strength. SOLUTION: In this method for fixing the mounting eye 5 to the hydraulic shock absorber, annular mounting eye 5 constituted by joining end parts 15a of the plate member 15 mutually by roll machining is arranged in such a way that a joint part 14 opposes to a lower end part of a hydraulic shock absorber main body 1 or a tip part of a piston rod, and the mounting eye 5 and the lower end part of the hydraulic shock absorber main body 1 or the tip part of the piston rod are welded and fixed through the joint part 14. Both end parts 15a of the plate member 15 are cut into a taper shape in which grade from an upper face 16 of the plate member 15 which becomes an outer peripheral face of the mounting eye 5 toward a lower face 17 which becomes an inner peripheral face is an acute angle in advance so that the whole end parts of the plate member 15 which become the joint parts 14 by roll machining adhere closely and mutually. Next, the plate member 15 is machined by roll machining to form the mounting eye 5. The joint part 14 is arranged to oppose to the lower end part of the hydraulic shock absorber main body 1 or the tip part of the piston rod. Then, the mounting eye 5 and the lower end part of the hydraulic shock absorber main body 1 or the tip part of the piston rod are welded and fixed through the joint part 14.
