PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a meteorological observation system capable of maintaining high the measuring accuracy of light quantity detected in a reception part, by excluding fine water droplets adhering to the cover over the reception part. SOLUTION: The light receiving parts 15 and 16, a cover 14 covering the light receiving parts 15 and 16 transmitting light and a photocatalyst layer 19 provided on the surface of the cover 14 and the meteorological observation system is provided with the photocatalyst layer 19 on the inner surface of the cover 14. With this meteorological observation system, droplets are removed from the surface of the cover 14 as the photocatalyst layer 19 exhibits hydrophilic, when photocatalyst layer 19 is irradiated with ultraviolet rays, and so scattering of light passing the reception parts 15 and 16 is prevented.
