The bricklayer or plasterer's trowel is in the shape of a rectangle and made of metal or plastic. Along its long side is a scoop attached to the trowel with a screw but which can be taken off and on. The scoop is semi-circular or square-edged, slightly shorter than the trowel itself to avoid plaster spilling over the sides. The scoop forms a flat plane with the side of the trowel. When the trowel is held against the wall at an oblique angle by gripping its underside (g), the liquid plaster pours over the surface of the trowel on to the wall.
|
