Lead substitute material for radiation protection in the energy range of a 60-140 kV x-ray tube comprises, for a nominal total lead equivalent thickness of 0.25-2 mm, 12-22 wt.% silicone, 1-75 wt.% tin, 0-73 wt.% tungsten and 0-80 wt.% bismuth, optionally in the form of compounds. An independent claim is also included for radioprotective clothing comprising the lead substitute material.
