The sheet (1, 5) to be used for the production of a part of a vehicle body is coated with several layers (6) like a corrosion protection, a pigment or gloss layer, and a top protection layer (7). The material used for the coating (6, 7) is dispensed from a coil. After coating the sheet (1, 5) is provided with an overall three-dimensional texture (3) in order to strengthen the material. There could also be a partial relief (3) impressed if required by the particular purpose. The pattern used for the texture (3) can vary.
