<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag and an air bag assembly in which the gas leakage from gas generator insertion openings is considerably small. <P>SOLUTION: An outer shell of a knee air bag 14 comprises a front panel 20 on the occupant side and a rear panel 22 on an interior panel 2 side. An abutting sheet 32 is fitted to an inner surface of a lower portion of the rear panel 22. Gas generator insertion openings 36 and 38 are formed in the rear panel 22 and the abutting sheet 32, respectively. The insertion openings 36 and 38 are arranged separately with a space from each other, and the space from the insertion opening 36 of the retainer 22 to the insertion port 38 of the abutting sheet 32 is equal to the gas generator insertion space S. The rear panel 22 and the abutting sheet 32 are coupled with each other in a vicinity of an upper side and in a vicinity of a lower side of the gas generator insertion space S, and the gas generator insertion space S forms a tunnel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
