PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remaining developer detecting device capable of easily performing manufacture and adjustment and realizing low cost and high reliability and to provide an image forming apparatus using the device. SOLUTION: The remaining developer detecting device 1 is provided with a differential transformer 3 for detecting a remaining amount of the developer (g). Therein, a magnetism adjusting means 4 having a magnetic pattern 4m arranged on the position crossing a flux flow of the differential transformer 3 is disposed on the outside of an other side secondary coil 3c22 of the opposite side to one side secondary coil 3c21 on the developer (g) side in the differential transformer 3.
