PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic meter reading (AMR) system which can access and control for the information which a meter and an end point can provide. SOLUTION: The automatic meter reading (AMR) system is an end point connected to a fixed or mobile-type reader and a demand meter, and the fixed one or mobile type of reader is equipped with an item which can communicate with the above-mentioned end point via radio frequency transmission. In this system, the reader of a fixed or a mobile type transmits to the end point a message comprising an answering mode instruction, and any end point should answer in any one among the mobile network control mode and the fixed network control mode by the answering mode instruction from the reader.
