PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and weight of the overall suspending means 5 in a tower crane in which a basic configuration is different from that of a conventional tower crane or a tower crane in which a basic configuration is partly different from that of the conventional tower crane. SOLUTION: The column 5 of the tower crane is formed of a multiple stage telescoping column 6 and telescoping drive devices 13 and 22 drivingly telescoping the column. A telescoping force enough to drivingly telescope the multiple stage telescoping column in a state that the assembly units of a multistoried building are suspended by the suspending means 5 is provided to the telescoping drive devices 13 and 22.
