PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer apparatus capable of carrying a bale (transferred material) formed in a rectangular parallelepiped by a volume reducing device for waste. SOLUTION: This transfer apparatus 20 carries the bale 10 as a transferred material from a roller conveyor 11 to a pallet 12. The transfer apparatus comprises a pair of arms 23 and 24 supported rotatably around a horizontal axis, a holding mechanism 30 holding the bale 10 between the arms 23 and 24, and a pair of hydraulic cylinders 40 as actuators for rotating the arms 23 and 24. A bale 10 can be automatically carried from the roller conveyor 11 to the pallet 12 by rotating the arms 23 and 24 by approximately 90°in the state of the bale 10 held on the holding mechanism 30.
