PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage device and a method for reading the data in the data storage device. SOLUTION: The data storage device is equipped with a probe point structure 208 attached to a suspension mechanism 202 a data storage layer 214, at least one conductive layer 218, in which a capacitance 212 is formed between the suspension mechanism 202, and a sensor 204 for detecting change in the capacitance 212 based on displacement of the probe point structure 208 due to existence of a bit 210.
