PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back-up roll wear prevention method of a light rolling reduction straightening machine which improves productivity by substantially suppressing wear of a parted back-up roll of a light rolling reduction intellectual rolling mill, in a thick plate material rolling equipment where the light rolling reduction intellectual rolling mill is arranged. SOLUTION: The parted back-up roll wear prevention method is used for a plate material rolling equipment provided with at least one light rolling reduction rolling mill to light-reduce the plate material in a state of non-lubricant, wherein either of an upper and lower roller assemblies is structured such that a working roll is supported by parted back-up rolls parted into three or more parts in an axial direction, the parted back-up rolls are independently provided with load detecting devices, screw down devices, and roll reduction position detecting devices, respectively.
