PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for securely generating a common key in a non-secure environment such as the Internet. SOLUTION: A first entity operates exchange information a*X<SB>B</SB>*a<SP>-1</SP>from an inherent key (a), encodes the exchange information into graphical presentation and transmits it to a second entity. A decoder of the second entity decodes the exchange information a*X<SB>B</SB>*a<SP>-1</SP>of the graphical presentation transmitted from the first entity into the original exchange information and uses an inherent key (b) to generate a common key b*(a*b*a<SP>-1</SP>)<SP>-1</SP>from the decoded exchange information a*X<SB>B</SB>*a<SP>-1</SP>.
