PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle network apparatus capable of avoiding the occurrence of system-down of a whole vehicle on the occurrence of a defect in a gateway unit and allowing the vehicle to continue driving while continuing the control unchanged from that in a ordinary state with respect to the driving. SOLUTION: CPUs 611, 651 periodically output a confirmation signal, the CPUs 611, 651 receive the confirmation signal, when the CPUs 611, 651 cannot receive the confirmation signal, the CPUs 611, 651 discriminate abnormality of the gateway unit 2 and use switches 613, 653 to carry out communication not through the gateway unit 2 and transmit a signal indicating the discrimination of the abnormality of the gateway unit 2 to other units via a signal line 4.
