PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely set a track width, to prevent generation of defective products while maintaining high working efficiency, and to make gap losses small for recording and reproduction. SOLUTION: A pair of core half bodies 5A, 5B made of magnetic bodies are used, in which the outside faces 5a are formed perpendicular to the track scanning direction X, and the inner side faces 5b are slanted at a predetermined azimuth angleθ; a magnetic head core 5 is formed by mutually splicing the inner side faces 5b of both core half bodies 5A, 5B faced to each other with a non-magnetic joining material 10 by sandwiching a magnetic gap G; a pair of notched grooves 8 are formed on both sides of the magnetic head core 5 from the outside faces 5a of one of the core half bodies 5A up to the middle of the front faces of the other core half body 5B passing through the magnetic gap G along the track scanning direction X; and thus, the track forming face T between both notched grooves 8 is left uncut along the track scanning direction X, and the bottom face 8a of each notched groove 8 is formed in a circularized shape.
